BUILDING MATERIAL STORTAGES
Hopefully with UK pandemic restrictions finally coming to an end and life beginning to get back to some kind of normality in the next few months.
Our trade customers are still reporting full order books for the rest of the year. Whilst this is very positive news it does come with its own challenges.
Demand for building materials, especially landscaping and timber products has increased dramatically since the first lockdown as people spend ‘holiday’ money on projects at home. We have also seen many price increases and availability issues in the last year.
Particularly in the last few months, raw materials and chemicals used in insulation, joinery and the plastic industry have been pushing product prices up. Unfortunately this trend is only set to continue and is unprecedented in the last 40 years.
We are having to implement monthly price increases from our suppliers rather than yearly which makes it harder for our trade customers to price projects 1-2 months in advance.
Also with many items on allocation or simply not in the country due to logistic challenges. Our stock is changing daily with our purchasing team fighting for basic bread and butter items.
This is an issue that not only affects HBS but the Building Material supply industry as a whole. However with the help of strong supply chain relationships we believe we have fared better than most.
Over the next few peak months please allow sufficient time for quotation, ordering and delivery and be open to alternative available products.
Thank you for your continued support
Chris & Paul
